Both are fantastic achievements and are testament to our dedicated Facebook community who have liked, shared and engaged with us all the way to where we are now.
For us, social media is a very important part of what we do, not least because it enables us to engage with our customers, keep them informed on where their money is being invested and share some of the accomplishments and innovations of the companies we invest in. However, social media also supports the advocacy work we engage in on a corporate level, raising awareness of, and campaigning for, some of the key issues facing Australia. In the past year, we’ve used social media to generate submissions to keep a price on carbon, protect the UNESCO World Heritage Listing of Tasmania’s old growth forests and raise awareness of a number of environmental and political problems.
We’ve recently written a post summarising the issues our Facebook community care the most about (based on the most liked, shared and commented posts). The top topics were:
1. Climate Action Day
2. Protecting the UNESCO World Heritage listing of Tasmania’s old growth forests.
3. Climate change
4. Australian Ethical’s Community Grants
5. Solar power & renewable energy
6. Transfield & human rights.

To celebrate accomplishing this milestone and to say thank you to all our fans, we’ve decided to give away a $5,000 managed fund investment!
Ultimately we want to get you thinking about where your money is invested and what you think makes a ‘good’ or ‘ethical’ investment. For us a ‘good investment’ is one which has a positive impact on communities or the environment, but also returns financially for our customers. All our investments are shaped The Australian Ethical Charter, which is a series of statements that guide both the positive side (investments we seek out) and the negative side (investments we avoid) of our ethical approach. We want to hear what our fans and customers think are good investments and what they’d do with money to invest themselves.
To be in with a chance of winning all you need to do is like us on Facebook and tell us what you think makes a ‘good’ investment?
