Here at Australian Ethical we have an impressive wall of trophies that we’re adding to all the time. Here are some of our most recent wins.

Investment team

The Australian Ethical investment team is the heart of our business. They’re the people who manage the $3.87 billion in funds under management that we invest ethically for our super members and managed fund customers.

In February 2020 we won two awards at the Financial Standard Investment Leadership Awards. Our Australian Shares Fund won the 'Australian Equities – High Performance' category, which was a real testament to the outstanding performance achieved by our investment team. The Australian Shares Fund also took out the award for 'ESG – Australian Equities' for the second time in two years.

Australian Shares Fund portfolio manager Andy Gracey, Head of Client Relationships Leah Willis and portfolio manager Ray Gin.

Another big win for us in December 2019 was the Best Green Super Fund in Money magazine’s Best of the Best awards. We won this award for our Employer Balanced super option.

In November 2019 we won the Infinity Award 2019 from research house SuperRatings. The award aims to recognise the Australian super fund that “leads the industry in sustainable behaviour” and displays “genuine responsible investment principles and openly communicates these processes with fund members”. The assessment criteria takes into account carbon output, climate change risk, member engagement, investment approach and transparency.

In May 2019 our investment team were recognised for their hard work when they won Money Management's Fund Manager of the Year – Responsible Investments for the Australian Shares Fund (Wholesale).

Sustainability reporting

In June we won a Gold Award from the Australasian Reporting Awards (ARA) for our Annual and Sustainability Report 2017. The ARA described our report this way:

“An engaging integrated, sustainability and annual report that is strongly aligned to the organisation’s ethos and its core stakeholders’ interests. It provides a clear and concise year in review snapshot, and makes good use of images and tables to communicate effectively.”

If you haven’t done so, you should also check out our 2019 Sustainability Report which includes some really engaging case studies, infographics and videos.

Community engagement

In 2018 we were also recognised for our industry-leading social media strategy when we won Social Media Campaign of the Year in the Financial Standard MAX Awards. We have over 125,000 active followers on social media and a much higher level of engagement than typical financial services companies. We view social media as a forum for sharing information about initiatives, events, and news related to a more ethical and sustainable future for society, animals and the environment.

That’s just the start

All of the awards we have won since 2002 are listed on our website, and in addition to our long list of awards we are also members of various ethical and environmental groups. For example, we are a certified B Corporation which means we “meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose”. In recent weeks we have also been certified as a member of 1% for the Planet which means we donate 1% of our total revenue (before tax) to not-for-profits that are helping protect and preserve the environment. We are also supporters of the Verified Tobacco-Free certification, and we are acknowledged by Tobacco Free Portfolios as a leader on this issue because we have never invested in tobacco companies. Our many awards and certifications are proof that our ethical approach to investment management is benefiting the planet, people and animals.
