Important information regarding your super contributions cap assessment
You may have recently received a notice of assessment back in December from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) stating that you exceeded your contribution cap for 2017-18.
We’re aware of an error where some of your contributions were reported to the ATO twice by Australian Ethical, and this may have caused you to exceed your contributions cap for 2017-18. We have notified the ATO of this error and the correct contributions data has now been resubmitted to the ATO.
This revised information will be used to re-assess your contributions cap for 2017-18.
What does this mean for you?
We’ve been working with the ATO and they have now reviewed your details. A new notice of assessment from the ATO is on its way to you and you should receive it shortly.
What do you need to do?
If you are impacted by this error, we recommend you log in and check your myGov account to ensure the correct adjustments have been applied or keep an eye out for further notification from the ATO in your letterbox.
For more information on contributions caps, visit the ATO website.
You can contact the ATO’s Super Helpline on 13 10 20 to request more information about your tax assessment or if you believe the information remains incorrect.
Don't have a myGOV account?
That’s fine. You can go to the myGov website to create an account and review your personal information or call the ATO’s Super Helpline on 13 10 20 and ask them to check your account on your behalf.
